Abstract

The main objective of the project is the creation of a cartographic
series for the LULUCF sector (land use, land use change and forestry)
adapted to the INSPIRE Directive, from 1970 to 2015, that allows
the estimation of emissions and removals of greenhouse gases
resulting from the activities of this sector from 1990 to the present.
For this, we have started from the analysis of historical cartography
of land occupation (coverage and/or use) of Spain, selecting a
total of 14 that have been located in 7 reference dates (1970, 1990,
2000, 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2015). For each of them, equivalences
have been developed that allow their comparison with the classes
of land use defined by the IPCC guidelines for the LULUCF sector.
The result is a set of geospatial data, in raster format, with a resolution
of 25 meters, which covers the entire country for the seven
reference dates. Additionally, the coverage of change by province
has been obtained from the raster analysis carried out between
reference dates.
The cartography obtained is unique in Spain and allows the incorporation
of new maps in the future.
